The primary objective of the Erasmus+ project was to raise awareness about bullying and foster a positive and inclusive school environment. The project sought to empower students and teachers with the knowledge and skills necessary to prevent and address bullying effectively. Through cross-cultural interactions, the project aimed to promote understanding, tolerance, and empathy among participants.

The Greek participation played a pivotal role in the success of the project, contributing diverse activities and actions by both educators and students. The program offered Greek teachers an invaluable opportunity to enrich the learning experience for their students with remarkable activities presented by all partner schools. Moreover, it fostered knowledge exchange and idea sharing among partner schools, resulting in the development of truly innovative educational strategies within the framework of the initiative.

Activities and Achievements: The core activities of the project included seminars and workshops centered around understanding, preventing, and managing bullying. These activities not only educated participants about the various forms of bullying but also empowered them with the skills to address and prevent such behavior.

Impact on DES Primary School: The "Be True, Do Not Bully" project had a profound impact on DES Primary School, influencing both the school program and its students.

  1. School Program Enhancement: The project prompted DES Primary School to integrate anti-bullying initiatives into its curriculum. Regular seminars and awareness campaigns became a part of the school's ongoing efforts to create a safe and inclusive environment.

  2. Student Empowerment: Students became active participants in the fight against bullying. The project empowered them with the knowledge and confidence to stand up against bullying, fostering a culture of respect and understanding.

All the children were not just participants but teachers' assistants when needed, and even had to work in groups in some of these activities. The program enriched their understanding of the causes and consequences of harassment phenomena and ignited the need to externalize positive or negative feelings. In addition, this international experience gave the students the opportunity to meet their peers from other European countries, to exchange opinions and personal experiences and to have fun during joint activities.

Throughout the project, notable changes occurred within the DES school's curriculum:

  • Increased Awareness: The school community gained a heightened awareness of the different forms of bullying and the importance of prevention.

  • Collaborative Culture: The project fostered a collaborative culture among teachers, students, and parents, emphasizing the shared responsibility in combating bullying.

  • Institutionalized Prevention: The school integrated anti-bullying measures into its policies, ensuring a sustained focus on prevention and intervention.

Dissemination: DES Primary School fervently celebrated the international days related to bullying, actively involving the students in group or individual actions. Social media and the school newspaper were instrumental in sharing the results of these efforts with the wider community. Photos or videos documenting our work and views were shared through various channels, including, social media accounts, the school's website and parents' platform.

Conclusion: The Erasmus+ project "Be True, Do Not Bully" proved to be a transformative experience for DES Primary School, leaving a lasting impact on both the school's ethos and its students. By fostering collaboration and sharing valuable insights, the project contributed significantly to the global effort to create safe and nurturing learning environments, free from the scourge of bullying. The challenges faced were overcome through collective determination, resulting in a successful and enriching experience for all involved.

MENTORSHIP PROGRAMME

We finally did it! All grades 1,2,3 have a school big brother/big sister with an overwhelming percentage of volunteers from grades 4,5,6 as part of their leadership training. The outpouring of love was tremendous, and watching them bond during the breaks was very rewarding.

INTERNATIONAL FRIENDSHIP DAY
A friend is someone you know, like and enjoy spending time with. A friend may help you when you are in trouble or need help. The relationship between friends is what we call a friendship.

EMOTIONAL EDUCATION

One of the things a child is called to learn is how to manage his emotions – to know that the mood-emotion can change from joy to anger without the person becoming different, losing himself. So, one of the most critical conditions is recognising and managing it!

THE BENCH OF HUGS

Open up your heart … and your arms this January 21 for National Hugging Day! As you might guess, this day is an annual event dedicated to the underrated art form of the hug. We love all types of hugs, from the one-armed hug to full bear hugs; this is why @DES there is a bench especially dedicated to hugging!

DES HOUSE LEAGUES
Fostering collaboration, responsibility, engendering group loyalty and social and emotional learning are the primary characteristics of the DES House system.
The development of students’ capacity for collaboration, teamwork, loyalty and team spirit, self-confidence, self-discipline and sustained effort for the attainment of goals in the framework of inter-house sporting and academic competitions, directly correlate with the promotion of interpersonal, intrapersonal, bodily-kinaesthetic intelligence and naturalistic intelligence.
